Lightning Struck! 8th Annual Celebration of the Arts - Tampa Bay Lightning and a Year on Display!

I received a call today from the PR guy for the Tampa Bay Lightening to let me know my piece “A Modern Interpretation” was accepted into the 8th Annual Celebration of the Arts. They took 41 pieces out of 500-600 entries and the 41 pcs will be displayed on the Executive Level of the Arena for the entire year - 23 September 2019 - 23 September 2020. I entered 3 pieces and they favored the abstract modern. I got a phone call yesterday and today I received an official email. Excuse me while I pinch myself! Does that mean the Artists can get an executive level seat to a Bolts game? That would be awesome!!!

“Congratulations, your artwork has been chosen as a finalist for the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 8th Annual Open Call to Artists! We were lucky enough to receive over 500 submissions and the jury was again blown away by the talent of all the pieces submitted. This year’s jury consisted of Penny Vinik, as well as executives from the Dali Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Pete, and the Tampa Museum of Art.

To celebrate the unveiling of your artwork, you and a guest are invited to the Celebration of the Arts event on Monday, September 23rd from 5:45pm-7pm. The official invitation will be sent in a separate email and will include a link to RSVP.”

The opportunity is very exciting and I entered the competition several months ago and totally forgot about it. https://www.nhl.com/lightning/community/celebration-of-the-arts The Opening reception is on September 23rd, 2019 - a day after my 54th birthday. What a sweet celebration! I am genuinely excited, this is a first for me. It’s all a FIRST for me. Tonight I am actually going to my first Opening Reception at Venice Art Center where “Spectra” won a Merit Award. Very exciting time for me and my art journey. I appreciate the support of my family and friends more than I can ever express.
