So grateful to report that our book Soldier, Sister, Savant has been awarded first place in non-fiction in the biennial, national competition sponsored by the National League of American Pen Women.
The finalist judge had this to say about the book:
"An extraordinarily personal story presented in a unique style, in which recorded events are constantly juxtaposed with inward succinct reflection, Soldier, Sister, Savant takes us through the narrator’s incredible tragedies and obstacles while still avoiding any grandiose elements associated with individual reflection. With a wonderfully honest and simply quite funny voice, she addresses physical, emotional, and vocational struggle and her ability to overcome. Truly an account of hope and resilience."
WAY cool!
